Steve Kerr’s Amazing Speech At Halftime

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has been absent from his team ever since Game 3 of their first round series against the Portland Trailblazers due to an illness. Usually, the vague “illness” ruling to hold a player or coach, in this case, out of game is because doctors aren’t sure what is wrong.

In his place, lead assistant coach and former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Mike Brown took over. Brown has had years of head coach experience and was the NBA Coach of the Year in 2009 with Cleveland. He led the Warriors to a second round sweep against the Utah Jazz and has done an outstanding job.

Two days ago, Kerr was spotted at the Warriors training facilities for the first time since being ruled out indefinitely.

Then, during last night’s half-time in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, and the Warriors trailing by 20 points, Steve Kerr, who was not coaching the game, delivered a great halftime speech to his team.

“We gotta find that balance between pace and discipline, right? We’re a little out of sorts. We’ve been trying to push it and trying to push it, but now we’re turning it over a little bit. I thought our defense was actually really good in the first quarter, but then, you know we turn it over, we give up some easy ones, so now we’re playing from behind and then the second quarter we got out of sorts.

“So, get your poise back. Wings, run like crazy. And just just settle in on like three stops in a row. Let’s get three stops in a row and the push will come from that. The pace will come from that. Settle in, and we’ll be alright.”
