Kevin Durant Praises LeBron James After Game 5
Kevin Durant was crowned Finals MVP, but arguably wasn’t the best player in these Finals. This achievement goes to Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James, who became the first player to average a triple double in the NBA Finals. LeBron James averaged an insane 33.6 points, 12.2 rebounds, 10.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 blocks per game.
It was the second Finals in which the world’s two best players competed. The first time, back in 2012, LeBron James and his Heat made winning the title look almost as easy as Kevin Durant and his Warriors made it look this year.
After the game, when the final battle was fought, Kevin Durant praised LeBron James during his on-court interview with Doris Burke. Durant said:
“He’s the only person that I was looking at, since 2012. He’s the only one that I looked at and say ‘he’s the only guy that can look me eye to eye’. I knew it was going to be a battle, I was trying to challenge him – he averaged a damn triple double – can’t stop the guy. But we battle man… I told him ‘we tied up now’ and we’re trying to do this thing again.”
