LeBron James Helped Recruit Derrick Rose & Was Super Excited When It Worked Out
This year was supposed to be the year Derrick Rose signs his super-max contract. Derrick Rose a max player? These days are long gone. Everyone knows, that Derrick Rose will never return to the level of play that saw him become the leagues youngest MVP in NBA history.
Now, Derrick Rose will sign a one-year minimum contract, worth $2.1 million, with the Cleveland Cavaliers. That makes him earn less than Michael Carter-Williams, Cameron Payne, Shabazz Napier and Shelvin Mack next season, during what should have been his prime. Sure, Rose still is a better player than these players, but he was smart to take the Cavaliers’ offer. Why? Because it is a great opportunity for him. It doesn’t even matter if Kyrie Irving is traded or not, but when Kyrie is off the floor (whether it’s the bench or a different team), Rose will be Irving without range. The former MVP can now shine with a team that has been together for the better part of the last three years. A team that has been succesful, a team that doesn’t expect him to lead, but to exert his role. As we know, LeBron James is known for making his teammates better. A Rose-James duo could easily work out.
That may be the reason for James to actively recruit Rose, even though he said that he will stay out of the trade discussions, letting the front office and new general manager Koby Altman handle things.
Derrick Rose has communicated with LeBron James through the process that led him to the Cavaliers, league sources tell ESPN.

LeBron is hyped. Many NBA fans are. For some reason, even despite his injuries and setbacks in his career in which have never seen him reach his MVP playing level again, people throughout the league and especially NBA fans still adore him. He was one of the most feared offensive players in the association, and now remains a solid fan favorite throughout NBA fan bases. I believe NBA fans want him to succeed so badly because of what he’s been through. I think it’s fair to say that Rose’s struggles throughout his career is relatable with the struggles individuals face in their everyday life.
No matter what situation we are faced with in life, we always have to look for a way to fight, and NBA fans sympathize with the journey Rose has undertaken in his career so far. It’s the ability of seeing someone overcome a difficult situation and come back that makes him a feel-good player around the association.
