When Becoming The Best: Jason Kidd’s Advice For Giannis Antetokounmpo
Giannis Antetokounmpo has flat out domiated the first 6 games of the season, and undoubtedly has been the best player in the league to start the year.
Giannis isn’t only leading the league in points with an insane 34.7 points per game (on 63.1% shooting), but also adding 10.7 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals. The Greek Freak has been so good, that his coach, Jason Kidd, is scared that his star player may get bored. That’s why Kidd told him to ‘not get bored’, that’s what he told ESPN when asked what piece of advice he has for Giannis.
“Don’t get bored. When you become the best, it’s very few people who’ve been at the top of the mountain who haven’t gotten bored, and [Michael Jordan] is one of them. The great ones don’t get bored. The good ones do. So hopefully at the end of my coaching career, if there’s anything that I can leave with him, it’s when he’s at the top of the mountain, he doesn’t get bored.”
I don’t have the feeling Antetokounmpo will get bored anytime soon. It seems like he’s having too much fun dominating on the court.
Fellow superstar Kevin Durant saw an epic season of Giannis coming and, shortly before the season started, said:
“I like long, athletic guys. That’s just who I am. The Greek Freak I think is a force, and I’ve never seen anything like him. And his ceiling is probably—he could end up being the best player to ever play if he really wanted to. That’s pretty scary to think about. But he’s by far my favorite player to watch.”
