Former NBA Player Drew Gordon Dies In Portland Car Crash

 

The basketball world is mourning the loss of Drew Gordon, brother of Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon. Drew Gordon tragically died in a car accident in Portland, Oregon on Thursday, May 30th, 2024. He was 33 years old.

The news was confirmed by Drew’s agent, Calvin Andrews, to ESPN. Tributes poured in from across the NBA community, with many remembering Drew for his infectious energy and hustle on the court.

A former standout at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, California, Gordon went on to play college basketball for both New Mexico and UCLA. Though his NBA career was brief, he appeared in nine games for the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2014-15 season. He also played professionally in Europe and the NBA G League.

Beyond basketball, Drew was known for his warm personality and dedication to his family. He is survived by his wife, Angela, and their three children.

Aaron Gordon’s team, the Denver Nuggets, released a statement offering their condolences:

 

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Drew Gordon. He was a beloved teammate and friend to many in the NBA community. Our thoughts and prayers are with Aaron and the entire Gordon family during this difficult time.”
