Ben Simmons’ Perfect Response To Donovan Mitchell Throwing Shade At Him
There have been a lot of impressive rookies this year. Ben Simmons, Donovan Mitchell, Jayson Tatum, John Collins, Kyle Kuzma, Dennis Smith Jr, Lonzo Ball, Josh Jackson, Lauri Markkanen and a lot more. But the race for rookie of the year is between Ben Simmons and Donovan Mitchell, if it even is a race.
The Sixers phenom is the clear frontrunner, even though some people have a problem with him being considered a rookie. Mitchell seems to be one of them and threw some shade at Simmons with a shirt he wore last night. It read:
Rookie [roo k-ee]
noun
An athlete playing his or her first season as a member of a professional sports team.

Unfortunately for Mitchell, according to the official definition of what a rookie is, Simmons is a rookie. He also played a better season than Mitchell and had a much bigger impact on his team and the team’s success. People forget that the Jazz were over 10 games behind the 8th seed in the West, before Rudy Gobert came back and turned the season around.
Ben Simmons himself also had the perfect comeback to Mitchell’s shirt and said:
“If his argument is I’m not a rookie, if that’s the only argument he has, I’m in pretty good shape then.”
