Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. was arrested on Monday in New York City and charged with assault and strangulation after an alleged domestic violence incident.
According to police, Porter got into an argument with his girlfriend, WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick, at a hotel in Manhattan. The argument escalated, and Porter allegedly hit the woman several times and put his hands around her neck. Gondrezick, was taken to the hospital with at least one broken bone and bruising.
Porter was arrested and taken to the 17th Precinct. He was released on bail later that day.
The Rockets have not yet commented on Porter’s arrest, and the NBA is in control of the investigation.
