John Wall was a force to be reckoned with during his playing days with the Washington Wizards. However, after battling through tough seasons that ultimately led him away from the NBA, it’s easy to forget just how good he once was.

While with the Wizards, Wall averaged 19.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 9.2 assists per game on 43.3% shooting from the field and made the All-Star team five times. His best year came in 2017 when he was named to the All-NBA third team and led the Wizards to the second round of the playoffs.

Wall was unquestionably one of the best players in the Eastern Conference during his prime. However, Wall’s confidence extends beyond simply being one of the best. He believes he was the second-best player in the East, trailing only former Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James.

“I felt like I was coming into being a superstar,” Wall said. “Sad thing, injuries happen; it’s part of the game. But I felt like I was the second-best player in the East that year after LeBron. We were hooping, we were balling. You solidify yourself. When you get to that second max [contract], even third max, you feel like you made it. I’m one of those guys people talk about on the regular.”
