Patrick Ewing Says He Would Be The Equivalent Of Michael Jordan In Today’s Era
It wasn’t every day that you were able to find a big man like former New York Knicks center Patrick Ewing. At his best, Ewing was a bruising big man on both ends of the floor, terrorizing his opponents with a variety of post moves and soft touch around the rim while fueling his team’s physical and gritty defense.
Ewing had 13 straight seasons averaging 20+ points a game, and as far as team success goes, he led the Knicks to 13 straight playoff appearances including two trips to the NBA Finals.
Ewing was a bonafide superstar and was able to finish his career as one of the greatest centers to ever play the game of basketball. That being said, the New York Knicks legend believes he could’ve been greater than he once was had he only played in today’s era.
When discussing about the status of today’s centers, Ewing said that there’s a lack of great centers in the NBA, to an extent that a player like him would be the equivalent of Michael Jordan in today’s era.
“There’s not that many great centers,” Ewing said. “I’d be Michael Jordan in this era. It’s definitely changed, the way that teams play, the way that everybody spreads the floor. Most big guys now, instead of posting up, they want to get out there and shoot 3s.”
