Former NBA star Rajon Rondo was arrested on gun and drug charges. The arrest took place on Saturday in Indiana, and Rondo was cited for unlawful possession of a firearm, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana.
The Indiana State Police said that Rondo was arrested after they pulled him over for speeding on Interstate 94 near Bloomington. The officers said that they smelled marijuana coming from the car and found a gun and marijuana inside.
Rondo was then taken to Jackson County Jail and posted bond. All of the charges against Rondo are misdemeanors, per the initial report.
Rondo is a four-time NBA All-Star and two-time NBA champion, and spent 16 years in the NBA, playing for the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, Los Angeles Lakers, Atlanta Hawks, LA Clippers, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
This is not the first time Rondo has been arrested on a gun charge. In 2015, he was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit in Florida. He was later acquitted of the charges.
