Dallas Mavericks rookie sensation Dereck Lively recently poked fun at Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum’s championship celebrations. The playful jab came during the Mavericks’ schedule release video, where Lively humorously mimicked Tatum’s iconic celebration moments. I’ve somehow missed this gem till today, so I thought I’d share it, even though it’s been a couple of weeks since its release.
Dereck Lively, who had an impressive rookie season with the Mavericks, showcased his comedic side by recreating Tatum’s celebratory poses. This included holding an egg to mimic Tatum holding the Larry O’Brien Trophy, a nod to Tatum’s tribute to Kobe Bryant. The video also featured other playful references, such as Anthony Edwards’ famous “Bring Yo Ass” phrase and a splash aimed at the Golden State Warriors.

This light-hearted moment highlights the camaraderie that exists among NBA players, especially those who share a common background. Both Lively and Tatum are former Duke Blue Devils, adding an extra layer of connection to their playful interaction.
